Chimcoat understand the wide range of issues that a chimney flue can have. This is why we undertake a detailed and thorough flue survey before we produce a quotation for any work. Because we do not sell stoves we can give you the very best independent advice as to the safest and most efficient way to flue your stove.
Our surveys incorporate an examination of the entire flue and we provide a full written report along with digital photographs and CCTV camera footage, if required, to clearly demonstrate any issues identified.
There are several common issues we are asked to look at involving flue installations;
• Is this the correct flue for my stove
• Leakage of fumes into another room or the attic
• No updraught
• A steady or intermittent blowback of smoke or fumes
These may be caused by a number of things including a blocked or corroded flue from condensate build up or acid erosion, the wrong sized flue installed, a leaking or a badly installed flue or a damaged flue following a chimney fire. Unfortunately we also come across some installations where the flue has been incorrectly fitted. Incorrect installation can cause many problems such as those above and can prove to be a significant hazard.
